Product Information
Piperazine-1-carboxylic acid phenylamide is a potent inhibitor of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX2) and 5-lipoxygenase (5LOX). It is also a potential vanilloid receptor ligand. The pharmacokinetic properties of this agent are mediated by its amide group, which facilitates its passage across the blood brain barrier. Piperazine-1-carboxylic acid phenylamide has been shown to be efficacious in animal models for the treatment of multiple sclerosis, due to its potent inhibition of COX2 and 5LOX enzymes. This drug has also been shown to have antinociceptive effects in rats, although the mechanism is unclear.
