Product Information
2-Desisopropyl-2-ethyl ritonavir (2DPR) is a peptidomimetic inhibitor of the human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) protease, which prevents the cleavage of polyproteins into their constituent proteins. 2DPR interacts with the HIV-1 protease at the active site and inhibits its activity. 2DPR binds to a receptor on the surface of cells, which triggers an intracellular signal that activates ion channels. The ion channels are protein pores that allow ions to pass through the cell membrane, causing an electric current or voltage change in the cell. 2DPR is not active against other viruses and does not inhibit protein synthesis in cells.
