Product Information
2-{[1-(1H-1,3-Benzodiazol-2-yl)ethyl]sulfanyl}acetic acid is a small molecule that binds to the receptor site of GABA. The binding of 2-{[1-(1H-1,3-Benzodiazol-2-yl)ethyl]sulfanyl}acetic acid to the GABA receptor site can be reversed by benzodiazepine and other drugs that bind to the same receptor site. It has been shown that this drug inhibits the opening of ion channels in neuronal cells, leading to a decrease in the excitability of these cells. This drug also has been shown to inhibit the activity of an antibody against glutamic acid decarboxylase (GAD), which is an enzyme involved in gamma aminobutyric acid synthesis.
