Product Information

Name:
Oxaquin
Description:

Oxaquin is a C1-C6 alkyl compound that is potent against gram-negative pathogens. It inhibits the enzyme, oxidase, which catalyzes the oxidation of phenols and other aromatic compounds. Oxaquin also has antibacterial activity and can inhibit the growth of bacteria by binding to their ribosomal subunits, preventing protein synthesis. Oxaquin has been shown to have potent inhibitory activity against Staphylococcus aureus and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) in vitro. In addition, oxaquin has been shown to inhibit the bacterial enzyme gyrase and topoisomerase IV in vitro. This inhibition prevents DNA replication and transcription, leading to bacterial cell death. The mechanism of action of oxaquin is similar to that of glyphosate, an herbicide.
