Jessic acid is a diterpenoid that can be isolated from the leaves of Combretum. It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and antitumor properties in mice. Jessic acid has also been shown to inhibit the growth of murine colon carcinoma cells and human cancer cells, including those resistant to other anticancer agents. Jessic acid induces cancer cell death by stimulating apoptosis and inhibiting tumor cell proliferation.
