Product Information
Acephate is an insecticide and acaricide belonging to the group of organophosphates. It is used as a pesticide on crops, in livestock production, and in public health programs to control head lice and scabies. Acephate has also been used to treat skin infections caused by bacteria, fungi, or viruses. In medicine it is used as an antiviral drug. Acephate inhibits protein synthesis by inhibiting the activity of ribosomes in the bacterial cell by binding to their 50S subunit. This binding prevents transcription and translation of DNA into RNA and proteins.
