Bis(2,4-dinitrophenyl) oxalate is a chemical compound that is an oxalate ester of 2,4-dinitrophenol. It is a nucleophile and undergoes nucleophilic attack to the electron-deficient aromatic ring. The chemiluminescence of this compound can be detected by a fluorescence detector. The product of this reaction is 5-nitrosalicylic acid. As such, Bis(2,4-dinitrophenyl) oxalate has been used as a model system for studying nucleophilic reactions in organic chemistry.
