Product Information

Name:
1-Chloro-3-methyl-5-nitrobenzene
Synonyms:
  • 3-Chloro-5-Nitrotoluene
Description:

1-Chloro-3-methyl-5-nitrobenzene is a reactant that is used to prepare the chlorination reaction of hydrochloric acid and sodium nitrite. It has been used in the preparation process for polysaccharides and amino acids. 1-Chloro-3-methyl-5-nitrobenzene is an organic compound that contains a carbamate group and a methylphenyl group. This molecule can be prepared by the chlorination of 1,1,1,2,2,3,4,4,5,5,-octachlorobenzene with potassium chloride or sodium chloride in the presence of hydrochloric acid and sodium nitrite. The nitrite reacts with the methylphenyl group to form an amide bond that then undergoes deamination to form ammonia.
