Product Information
3-Hydroxyisobenzofuran-1(3H)-one (3HIBF) is a nitro inhibitor that is used to inhibit the activity of serine proteases. It is a conjugate with the drug allylisopropylacetamide and was first synthesized in 1953. The reaction between 3HIBF and sulfa drugs produces a potent inhibitor which is less toxic than the parent compound. This inhibition has been shown to be useful for treating cancer, as well as other diseases caused by amines or carboxylic acid derivatives. 3HIBF works by reacting with the active site of the enzyme, blocking it from binding to its substrate. The addition of dibutyltin oxide to the reaction solution increases the effectiveness of this inhibition, preventing it from being degraded by reactive oxygen species.
