It inhibits the proliferation of tumor cells by binding to the hydroxyl group on the cell surface and inducing apoptosis. 4-Hydroxy-2,3-dihydro-1H-isoindole-1,3-dione also prevents the formation of inflammatory bowel disease in mice. This drug also absorbs infrared light and can be used as an absorber for infrared radiation.
