Dihydropashanone is a flavonoid that has been shown to inhibit the growth of cryptococcus neoformans. The flavonoid inhibits cellular senescence, a process by which cells cease to divide or grow and accumulate damage over time. Dihydropashanone also affects the glycolytic pathway, inhibiting an enzyme that converts glucose into fructose-6-phosphate. This leads to reduced availability of ATP, which is necessary for cell division and growth. Dihydropashanone has been shown to have antiproliferative effects on mouse tumor cells in vitro and in vivo. These effects are due to its ability to inhibit cellular proliferation by inducing apoptosis and cell cycle arrest at the G2/M phase.
