The photophysical properties of 3-bromo-6-methylquinoline have been studied extensively and it is found to be a good candidate for applications in organic light emitting diodes and solar cells. Computational studies have shown that 3-bromo-6-methylquinoline is a potential substrate for alkylation reactions with pyridinium ions and may be used as a catalyst.
