Diosbulbin D is a tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) derivative that has been identified as a matrix effect agent. It is a potent, selective and orally active inhibitor of the enzyme fatty acid amide hydrolase (FAAH). Diosbulbin D selectively blocks the hydrolysis of anandamide and other endocannabinoids, which are lipid-signaling molecules produced by the body. This prevents their degradation, leading to increased levels of these compounds in the body. The effects of this drug have been analyzed using LC-MS/MS method on bladder cancer cells, pancreatic cancer cells and skin cancer cells. The results suggest that it may be an effective treatment for cancers characterized by elevated FAAH levels.
