Product Information
Benzene, 2-(bromomethyl)-1-fluoro-4-methoxy-, is a positron emitter that can be used as a radiopharmaceutical in positron emission tomography. It has been shown to be an inhibitor of the enzyme tyrosine phosphatase and may have therapeutic potential for the treatment of cancer. This compound was synthesized by reacting benzene with bromoiodomethane in the presence of potassium carbonate and triflic acid. The reaction yields enolate ions that are alkylated by bromide ions, leading to the formation of a 1-fluoro-4-methoxybenzene.
