4-[(Thiophen-2-yl)methyl]phenol is a compound that inhibits the uptake of serotonin in the brain and has been shown to act as an antinociceptive and an anti-inflammatory. It also inhibits inflammatory bowel disease. 4-[(Thiophen-2-yl)methyl]phenol has been shown to be orally active, acting on 5HT uptake. This drug has also been shown to be an active inhibitor of leukotriene A4 (LTA4), which is the precursor for leukotrienes that are involved in pain signaling, inflammation, and asthma.
