Product Information
2-(Carboxymethyl)-5-oxotetrahydrofuran-2-carboxylic acid is a mutant gene product that is catalytic and has the ability to uptake malic acid. This gene product can also be used as an analog for malonic acid, which is a dinitrogenase substrate. 2-(Carboxymethyl)-5-oxotetrahydrofuran-2-carboxylic acid has been shown to be able to convert organic acids (such as malonate) into high yields of acrylates. This gene product is also an homologue of other genes, such as 2-(carboxymethyl)-5-oxotetrahydrofuran-2-carboxylic acid, which is a key enzyme in the metabolism of oxalate and glyoxylate.
