Description:

BMS-191095 is a novel drug that has been shown to have both anti-inflammatory and cardioprotective effects. It is an ATP channel opener that helps to restore mitochondrial membrane potential and prevents the induction of reactive oxygen species (ROS). BMS-191095 is also able to inhibit the production of nitric oxide (NO) from the enzyme Nω-nitro-l-arginine methyl ester (L-NAME), which causes vasodilation and the release of potassium ions from cardiac cells. This drug has been shown to be effective in animal models for heart disease, as well as in isolated heart muscle cells.
