This peptide binds to the integrin αvβ3, which is expressed at high levels on the surface of tumor cells and plays an important role in tumor progression. It has been shown to be able to induce apoptosis in cancer cells and inhibit angiogenesis by binding to the RGD motif on integrins. H-[Cys-Arg-Gly-Asp-Arg-Gly-Pro-Asp-Cys]-NH2 also inhibits cell proliferation and induces cell cycle arrest.
