It has been shown to inhibit the synthesis of pro-inflammatory cytokines and potentiate the activity of anti-inflammatory cytokines in vitro. Camobucol has also demonstrated potent inhibition of peroxides, reactive oxygen species, and neutrophil-mediated cytotoxicity in vivo. In addition, camobucol inhibits inflammatory mechanisms at the cellular level by preventing IL1β from binding to its receptor. Camobucol is orally bioavailable and has an excellent safety profile with low toxicity.
