Product Information
Probucol is a hydroxylated benzoic acid derivative that is used as a reagent in organic synthesis. It can be prepared by the reaction of magnesium with probucol monoester, which is obtained by the condensation of 2-hydroxybenzoic acid and alcohol. The esters are then hydrolyzed to give the desired product. Probucol disuccinate is an example of a probucol derivative, where two molecules of probucol are linked by an ester bond. This molecule also contains hydroxyl groups on each end of the chain, which allow for further reactions to occur.
