It has been shown to be an agonist at the alpha 2C adrenergic receptor and to have neuroprotective effects against glutamate toxicity in cultured hippocampal neurons. 3-(3-Bromo-2-thienyl)-8-methyl-8-azabicyclo[3.2.1]oct-2-ene is also a ligand for the LPA1 receptor, which may contribute to its antiinflammatory effects in vivo.
