Product Information

Name:
Sibofimloc
Description:

Sibofimloc is a quinoline derivative that inhibits the activity of calprotectin, a protein found in human neutrophils. Sibofimloc is being developed for the treatment of postoperative ileus following colonoscopy and other gastrointestinal procedures. A multicenter, double-blind, placebo-controlled study showed that sibofimloc reduced the incidence of postoperative ilex by 36% in women. The drug also has shown to be safe and effective in reducing postoperative ileus in men and women with cancer. Sibofimloc blocks the action of calprotectin by binding to its active site and preventing it from interacting with other proteins involved in inflammation response. This drug has no effect on intestinal movement or motility because it does not act on these processes.
