Erythrinin G is a hydrogen-bonding compound that has been found to have antimicrobial properties. It is a metastable, group P2, polyene macrolide antibiotic with an intramolecular hydrogen bond in the side-chain. Erythrinin G has been shown to have chronic pulmonary antibacterial activity against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The chemical stability of erythrinin G has been demonstrated by LC/MS/MS analysis.
