Product Information
2-(4-Acetylpiperazin-1-yl)ethanethioamide is a pharmacological tool used to study protein interactions. It is an inhibitor of the enzyme phosphodiesterase 4 (PDE4). PDE4 is involved in the degradation of cAMP and inhibition of this enzyme leads to increased levels of cAMP, which can be measured using a radioimmunoassay. 2-(4-Acetylpiperazin-1-yl)ethanethioamide can also act as an activator for several other enzymes, such as protein kinases, and binds to receptors, including opioid receptors and dopamine receptors. This drug has been shown to have an effect on ion channels, such as calcium channels and sodium channels.
