Product Information
Coumurrayin is an indole alkaloid that is biosynthesized by the enzyme tryptophan synthase. It is a key intermediate in the synthesis of many drugs, including anxiolytic drugs such as buspirone and tandospirone. Coumurrayin can also be synthesized from coumarins, which are found in plants such as Cinchona pubescens (C. sappan), Bergapten, and synthetic ones like bergamottin. Coumurrayin has been shown to possess anti-inflammatory properties and can inhibit the production of fatty acids in cells by inhibiting enzymes called lipoxygenases. Coumurrayin has been shown to have high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) activity and can be used as a chemical standard for coumarins.
