This reaction may be used to measure the concentration of hydroxyl groups in a sample by using gravimetric analysis. 2-(Trimethylsilyloxy)ethyl Methacrylate will react with nucleophiles like chloride or sulfamoyl chloride to form acrylamide or methacrylic acid respectively.
