Product Information

Name:
1-Benzofuran-6-carbonitrile
Synonyms:
  • Benzofuran-6-carbonitrile
  • 6-Cyanobenzo[b]furan
Description:

1-Benzofuran-6-carbonitrile is a synthetic molecule that has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties. It has been shown to inhibit the production of cytokines such as interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-6 and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFα) in vitro. 1-Benzofuran-6-carbonitrile has also been shown to inhibit the expression of ICAM-1 on lymphocytes, which may be due to its ability to bind with this receptor. This drug can also cross-couple with palladium and form a bond with an atom or molecule called an "antagonist" or "partner". The binding of these two molecules prevents their interaction, which is important for their biological function. Lifitegrast is one example of a drug that can act as an antagonist to 1BFC.
