Quinoline-5,6-diamine is a synthetic compound that induces genotoxic effects. It has been shown to have genotoxic activity in Sprague-Dawley rats, as well as other animal studies. Quinoline-5,6-diamine also has the ability to induce sulfonation and nitro groups. This chemical can be acetylated and isomerized. It has been shown to have potential for genotoxicity in animals, with the most potent effect observed in liver cells. This chemical is not active against typhimurium bacteria, but does show some degree of toxicity towards Escherichia coli. The chemical structure of this compound consists of a quinoline group attached to a 5,6-diamine group.
