Product Information
Ethyl 4-[(tert-Butoxycarbonyl)amino]-3-oxobutanoate (4BAA) is a synthetic compound that has been shown to have anticancer activity in vitro. It reversibly inhibits DNA synthesis and cell proliferation by inhibiting the enzymatic activity of DNA polymerase II and topoisomerase II. 4BAA also has an inhibitory effect on the proliferation of tumor cells, which may be due to its ability to inhibit protein synthesis. In vivo studies have shown that this compound accumulates in tumor tissue, but not in normal tissues, at concentrations that are 10-fold higher than those found in plasma. This agent also inhibits the growth of fibroblasts and other non-malignant cells in vitro.
