3-Bromo-6-methylpyridine-2-carbonitrile is a chiral compound. It has been used as a raw material to produce various organic compounds, such as enantiomers and optical isomers. 3-Bromo-6-methylpyridine-2-carbonitrile can be prepared by cross coupling reaction with an optically active boronic acid or ester in the presence of a base. The optical purity of the molecule can be determined using either preparative high performance liquid chromatography (prep HPLC) or dichroism spectroscopy.
