L-701,324 is a selective antagonist of the response element-binding protein (REB). It prevents the transcription of the gene encoding this protein by binding to its DNA-binding site in the regulatory region of this gene. L-701,324 has been shown to have antagonistic effects on glutamate receptors and may be useful for treating neurodegenerative disorders. L-701,324 has also been shown to have anti-locomotor activity in animals and an interactive effect with other pharmacological agents. This drug has not yet been evaluated in humans.
