Description:CCI-006 is a cytotoxic compound that has been shown to be effective against leukemia cells, leukemias, and cancer. CCI-006 has been shown to be effective in the treatment of pediatric patients with leukemia. This drug is currently being developed for the treatment of other cancers, such as breast and lung cancer. CCI-006 works by binding to a targetable molecule on the mitochondrial membrane and causing depolarization of the membrane. This process leads to cell death by inhibiting the production of proteins vital for cell division. The mechanism by which CCI-006 causes mitochondrial membrane depolarization is still under investigation.
