1H-Pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridin-5-amine is a compound that is soluble in organic solvents and insoluble in water. 1H-Pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridin-5-amine has been shown to cause the formation of osteoclasts. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of a variety of cancer cells at high concentrations, including breast cancer cells and melanoma cells. This drug also has site specific effects on tumors, which means it will only work on certain sites and not others. The mechanism by which 1H-pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridin-5-amine causes bone loss is unknown but may involve the regulation of bone cell regulatory proteins.
