Ent-11β-hydroxyatis-16-ene-3,14-dione is a phytochemical that is isolated from the aerial parts of the plant Erythroxylum coca. It has been shown to have antiinflammatory properties and may be useful for the treatment of arthritis. Ent-11β-hydroxyatis-16-ene-3,14-dione binds to cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, thereby inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis. This compound has been identified as a reference material by the United States Pharmacopeia (USP).
