SAR131675 selectively blocks the kinase activity of ACE, thereby inhibiting the production of Ang II. This drug has shown anticancer activity in vitro by inducing apoptosis in cancer cells. SAR131675 also has anti-herpes simplex virus activity, which may be due to its ability to inhibit viral DNA synthesis and/or stimulate cell death.
