Description:Z-Tyr-Glu is an acidic amino acid that is a member of the L-glutamate family. It has been shown to be a genetic factor in antibody response and has been found to have multiple subunits. Z-Tyr-Glu is found in plants, such as the fungus Monascus purpureus, and can be isolated from wheat (Triticum aestivum) and rice (Oryza sativa). This amino acid is also found in plasma samples at low concentrations, where it may serve as a marker for metabolic disorders. Z-Tyr-Glu can be detected by electrospray ionization mass spectrometry and validated by liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry.
