It is a potent activator of TRPV1 receptors and has been shown to inhibit the activity of the protein kinase C (PKC) in cells. Cubebin also binds to the beta-subunit of voltage-gated potassium channels, inhibiting its function as an inhibitor. Cubebin has been used as a research tool for studying protein interactions and as a pharmacological probe for understanding ion channel modulation.
