Product Information
- Butyldimethylsilanol
tert-Butyldimethylsilanol (TBDMS) is a functional group that can be found in many polymers and organic compounds. It is also a monomer that is used in the synthesis of polymers. TBDMS can be synthesized by reacting chlorosilanes with trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) or hydrochloric acid (HCl). This reaction produces TBDMS and water. The TBDMS molecule has two chemical bonds to hydrogen, one to chlorine, and one to an organic solvent. It has an ionization energy of 230 kJ/mol and a boiling point of 243 degrees Celsius. TBDMS is soluble in both water and organic solvents.
