Product Information
- N,4-dimethylbenzamide
N-Methyl-p-toluamide (NMP) is a colorless liquid that has a redox potential of -0.38 V, which is indicative of its nucleophilic properties. NMP has been shown to react with trifluoroacetic acid to form amides and carboxylic acids. NMP can also react with hydrogen peroxide to form the corresponding nitroparaffins. Analytical toxicology methods for the determination of NMP include gas chromatography, liquid chromatography, and magnetic resonance spectroscopy. This chemical may be found in paint thinners, varnishes, and adhesives; it may also be used as a solvent or as an additive in some cosmetics.
