2-(Ethoxycarbonyl)-N-methylindole (2EMI) is a heterocyclic compound that can be produced by the catalysis of azides with aldehydes. 2EMI has been experimentally shown to yield azide and indirubin when treated with acetone in an alkaline hydrolysis reaction. The tautomers of 2EMI are the imino form and the carbonyl form, which are reversible. The reaction products of 2EMI are furan and pyridine.
