MMAB inhibits the production of DNA and RNA, which are needed for cell division. The drug also inhibits the activity of ribonucleotide reductase and deoxyribonucleotide reductase, which are enzymes involved in DNA synthesis. MMAB has been shown to inhibit the growth of tumor cells and may be useful in preventing tumors from forming.
