It has been shown to significantly reduce oxidative damage to protein synthesis in the cytoplasm of animals. 2-Ethoxy-6-methylpyridine also inhibits lipid peroxidation and membrane damage, which may be due to its ability to act as an endoplasmic reticulum (ER) template. This compound is able to bind to ER membranes and alter their structure, which may lead to the prevention of cell death.
