- Silane, octadecyl-
Octadecylsilane is a compound that is used as a stationary phase for preparative high performance liquid chromatography. It has been shown to be effective for the separation of proteins, peptides, and amino acids. Octadecylsilane can be used in analytical methods such as fluorescence detector analysis and ion exchange chromatography. The redox potential of octadecylsilane can also be determined using a number of different techniques. Octadecylsilane has been shown to exhibit phase transition temperature at -8°C with particle sizes of 2-3 nm. Salvia miltiorrhizae extract was found to decrease the redox potential of octadecylsilane by 18% when incubated together for 24 hours. The magnesium salt increased the redox potential by 6%.
