Tbk1/ikkε-in-5 responds to chemotherapy treatments and it is expressed at higher levels in tumor cells than in normal cells. The expression level of Tbk1/ikkε-in-5 can be used to predict the responsiveness of breast cancer patients to chemotherapy. Tbk1/ikkε-in-5 also has been shown to be an autonomously functioning regulator of taxane sensitivity and cell cycle progression.
