Description:The octachlorobiphenyls are a group of chlorinated biphenyls. The 2,2',3,3',4,5,5',6-octachlorobiphenyl (2,2',3,3',4,5,5',6-OCB) is a polychlorinated biphenyl with electronegativity and high polarity. It is used in sample preparation for the determination of polychlorinated biphenyls in environmental matrices such as soil or water. The 2,2',3,3',4,5,5',6-OCB is calibrated against standards and validated with chemical analysis. This congener can be measured using plasma lipids assays and muscle biopsies to determine its levels in humans. The 2,2',3,3',4,5,5'6-OCB has been shown to bioconcentrate in fish and mammals and may be toxic at higher levels
