Product Information
Name:Naphthalen-1(2H)-one
Brand:Biosynth
Description:Naphthalen-1(2H)-one is an organic compound that belongs to the group of naphthalene derivatives. It can be synthesized in an asymmetric synthesis. Naphthalen-1(2H)-one has shown significant cytotoxicity against human cancer cell lines and has been shown to inhibit the growth of fungi in tissue culture. The mechanism of action is not well understood, but it is believed that this compound interacts with a metal ion, forming a chelate complex, which results in the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS). ROS are known to cause oxidative damage to DNA and proteins, leading to cell death. Naphthalen-1(2H)-one also has hemolytic activity and intramolecular hydrogen bonding. It reacts with phosphorus pentoxide to form an alkyl phosphonate intermediate, which then reacts with hydroxyl groups on hemoglobin, leading to hemolysis.
