4-Epi-isoinuviscolide is a diterpene lactone that belongs to the class of sesquiterpenes. It has been found in the ethanol extract of Dittrichia graveolens and has antipyretic activities. 4-Epi-isoinuviscolide is an anti-inflammatory compound that induces apoptosis and autophagy in the cells. It is also an inhibitor of DNA methylation, which may be responsible for its antitumor activity. 4-Epi-isoinuviscolide has been shown to have a number of other biological activities, including inhibition of bacterial growth, induction of erythromycin biosynthesis, and inhibition of protein synthesis.
