Description:Naloxone methiodide is a microdialysis probe that blocks the effects of opioids, such as morphine and codeine. It is a competitive antagonist of κ-opioid receptors and has been shown to be effective in reducing locomotor activity in rats with chronic pain. Naloxone methiodide has also been shown to block the binding of kappa-opioid receptors by naloxone. This drug has been used in vivo as a model for bowel disease, myocardial infarct, and small-molecule drug testing.
