Description:J51 is a mutant strain of p. aeruginosa that has been modified to express green fluorescent protein (GFP) under the control of the lacZ promoter. This strain can be used as a model system for studying gene expression and regulation in bacteria, specifically how cells respond to changes in their environment. The J51 strain has been shown to produce GFP when exposed to light at wavelengths of 490 nm or greater, which is one characteristic that distinguishes it from the wild type strain. The J51 strain also produces more GFP than the wild-type strain when exposed to iron-deficient conditions.
