Tyrphostin ag1433 is a potent inhibitor of protein kinase A. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells and to have synergistic effects with other growth factors. Tyrphostin ag1433 has been shown to decrease the proliferation of epidermal cells in culture. This drug binds to the D2 receptor, which is involved in the regulation of neuronal activity and is thought to be involved in the development of Parkinson's disease, schizophrenia, and depression. Tyrphostin ag1433 inhibits binding of dopamine to its receptor, preventing activation of this receptor and leading to decreased activity.
